loved this book!

I truly loved Judith Rabinor's book. Not only is it clear that Dr. Rabinor is a deeply wise and skilled therapist, she is also a wonderful, engaging writer and storyteller. Her weaving of patients' stories into her own creates a compelling, even suspenseful narrative that carries through the entire book. Rabinor is honest, questing, compassionate, and real. You will wish she was your therapist. Any mother or daughter, parent or child, any explorer of human beings' complex relationships with each other will find rich material here. Bravo!

For anyone who has an imperfect mother or is one

Psychotherapist Judith Ruskay Rabinor could have written a self-help book filled with excellent clinical advice gleaned from her years spent helping mothers and daughters heal their relationships. I would have rolled my eyes and put it back on the shelf. Instead, she wrote an unflinchingly honest memoir about how hard it was for her to follow her own advice. She drew me in. After I was hooked, she provided guided meditations and multiple stories that softened my heart and, indeed, helped me reconsider my relationship with my own mother. Some healing has begun. The author says The Girl in the Red Boots: Making Peace with my Mother is the book for anyone who has an imperfect mother or is one. So this may be the book for you, too.

Life, Words, and Emotions

This is a beautifully written memoir focusing on Dr Rabinors relationship with her mother. At one point the authors words explode with emotion. The words and emotions meld together artistically allowing the reader to understand the sense of peace and love experienced as her life evolved. Louise P.
