No tradeoff in distance!

I tried just about everything in the "players distance" category and not only were these by far and away the best value, they were the best for me regardless of price. These are replacing Wilson C200s and one of the criteria in my decision making process was no tradeoff in distance. Surprisingly the C300 Forged are just as long as my old sticks and they feel fantastic. The pitching wedge has a range of 135-150 yds, depending on shot selection. The stock 7 iron goes 170-175 yds with about 88 MPH clubhead speed. The numbers are from actual rounds of golf I played out here in the Pacific Northwest where it's still damp. So, these are not only long and forgiving, they are absolutely gorgeous! The craftsmanship is impeccable. For the record I'm an 8 hdcp who has always gone for forgiveness over vanity.

Long & forgiving

As I've had so many questions about these irons, I thought it was time to write a review. About me, I've been playing for over 40 years, 30 years with blades but now in my 50's I changed to Mizuno cavities about 4 years ago. Handicap has been at or below 3 for the last 10 years and driver swing speed is just under 110. The first thing I noticed with these clubs is how solid they feel. I've got 4 wraps of tape under the grip which may be part of the reason. They swing weight at D3/D4 which is a bit heavier than standard. With these clubs, I've gained an extra club in distance which threw my gaps off with my Vokey gap wedge therefore I purchased the C300 gap wedge as well. Due to the extra distance though, I've been able to remove my Titleist 712U 3 iron as the Wilson 4 iron is a) Just as long, b) considerably easier to hit off the tee and c) inspires confidence when over the ball. The second point I noted was how forgiving the clubs are. You know when you don't hit the middle of the face but unlike the Mizuno's, the distance loss is very, very minimal. Instead of landing in the bunker short of the green, you will fly it. The third point, and the issue that I had when I first played with these clubs, is that out of the rough, the ball jumps! I've been flying greens that I have no right to fly! I now know to take up to two clubs less to allow for the flyer. This obviously means that I have a much shorter club coming in which has it's benefits :) Highly recommend these clubs but if you're reading this review, you probably already know.

Gotta get 'em!

High cut, low draw, high draw, low cut, knockdown, you name it you can hit it. From a former scratch player that played Staff Tour Blades in the 1990's, nice to see the quality and value return, with a little helpful tech added for this old body! Tried multiple shafts and ended up with the KBS Tour 105 Stiff, +3/4" (37" 7 iron), 2 1/2 degrees upright. Mid size grip with 2 extra wraps on the left and 4 on the right hand. Been stuck at a 4 hdcp for a couple of years, mostly because of lack of playing time and some injuries, but after 20 minutes on the range, right out of the box, hit 16 greens and shot even - first time in over a year! Can't wait to head out again for 9 holes tonight and dial-in the distances some more - and just hit them! I seriously think anyone from a single digit up to a 15 handicap will benefit from these, and a they are a tremendous value! Seem some negative comments regarding Wilson resale value, but not to worry here - these aren't going anywhere outside my bag for a very long time! And by the way, I'm 57 years young and hit this 7 iron 170 yards - +10 from the old sticks!
