Loved this story!

I love when an author can draw me right into the story and setting and make me feel like I'm there! Evie's background as an orphan on the orphan train is tragic, yet she uses her trials to strengthen her faith and stays optimistic. She has such a fun and funny personality, it was a pleasure to read about her mannerisms and special way of warming up even the most recalcitrant cowboy. Her insecurities about her eyes and the way many of the townspeople respond to her difference sharply contrasts with the young woman that Logan gets to know, and he provides encouragement and support. Logan has his own spiritual journey as he struggles with the concepts of justice and vengeance, and his blossoming relationship with Evie. I liked seeing the interactions between Logan and Evie's overprotective brothers and the way they slowly began to trust each other. The discovery of an abused young woman shakes up the plot and adds mystery and danger as Logan and the siblings protect her and themselves against a ruthless and conniving villain. Secrets, family loyalty, and romance all complicate the decisions Logan and Evie have in front of them, and I was completely immersed in the story the whole time. Highly recommend! Worth the Read

I am a slow reader, but I finished this book in three days. I also don't reread books (because of slow reading) but I plan to reread More Than Meets the Eye soon and am so excited to add it to my library. It is so good! From the heart-wrenching prologue through the very last sentence of the very last page, Karen Witemeyer takes the reader on an emotion filled adventure. I found myself laughing out loud, smiling, tearing up, and pressing my hand to my heart at both touching and nerve-racking sections. The book is full of valuable lessons and many memorable quotes. I highly recommend this book to any young tweens through adults who are looking for an excellent, clean, christian, romantic book. (It is a perfect summer read). More Than Meets the Eye is a book you will want to pass to your daughter or friends. (My sisters and mom want to read it now that I have finished). A quote that I have tucked into my heart is "She needs our patience and kindness"... I find myself repeating this in my head in different situations. So good! And once you've finished reading More Than Meets the Eye... I suggest picking up and reading all of Karen Witemeyer's other books. I promise you will not regret it!

Talk about a opening scene, I was immediately hooked. From the very first page I was transported to another place and time, and immediately fell in love with the characters. Witemeyer had me both crying and laughing. Craving more, it was nearly impossible to stop reading. I loved the storyline, and it is so unlike anything I've ever read. The relationship of siblings is like no other. I loved getting a glimpse into a bond formed by choice that might even be closer than blood. There was the perfect amount of romance, surprises, and suspense. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. While reading I was already anticipating the next book, that's how much I love the characters. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
