This is a Genuine General Electric Light Bulb WE05X20431 for your dryer. This light bulb, also known as a drum lamp, illuminates and lights up the dryer drum when the door is open. If the light bulb in the dryer is burnt out or lighting is inconsistent, replacing it can solve this problem. No tools are required for this replacement. To repair, first locate the top section in the interior of the dryer and check the bulb. Next, unscrew the bulb by making three to four turns. Pro tip: the bulb cannot be screwed straight in, instead lean it at a 45-degree angle. Refer to the diagram provided by the manufacturer for further instruction and guidance. Remember to unplug the dryer from the power source for your safety. Please check the compatibility with your previous part and appliance's model before ordering this replacement.

Questionable longevity
This replacement bulb lasted just over a year in my dryer, which doesn't seem long enough for the short amounts of time the bulb is actually illuminated. I think I replaced the bulb in my previous dryer maybe once in 17 years. This dryer is 3 years old, and I'm looking to purchase a third light bulb.

Bulb lasted 30 days
The original dryer bulb lasted over two years. I bought two similar bulbs, hoping they would each last at least a few more years. Thirty days after installing the first one, it stopped working. I'm hoping the second one will last long enough for me to find another option. Model: GTD42EASJ2WW

What's the alternative?
I'm only purchasing more of these because I don't know what else we could use. These bulbs don't last a year. Wish there was a better alternative.
