And once she got back home, Sarah Barton helped found the American Red Cross where she served as president until she was 83 in 1904. Design & Details Our in-house design team took care to add plenty of historic details into this Made By Us Clara Barton costume. They created a silhouette that would look right at home in the 1860s with billowing sleeves and a floor-length skirt with a built-in petticoat. At the same time, they've added handy modern shortcuts to make slipping back into time easier such as a zipper up the back and elastic around the wrists. To make you ready to serve as the Battlefield angel, the costume is complete with white cuffs that slip over the dress sleeves and a matching broadcloth apron with a proud red cross on the chest.
