Fragrant blooms

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received these bulbs awhile back. I had never heard of Fritillarias. They looked simply stunning though. They are perennials that require full sun to partial shade. Plant them in the fall and blooming should happen in the spring or early summer. They are pendent, bell shaped flowers that have leafy stems. I like that they are deer resistant. I live in the country and the deer love to pull bulbs up sometimes and eat them. You will have no worries with these flowers.

Stunning flowers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I live in an area with deer. Many of my flowering plants and my soft leaf plants like Hostas don't stand a chance, Fritillaria flowers are not their on the deer's list of food. So I can plant these beautiful flowers/ plants, have the multiple and enjoy them from late spring to summer.

Good Quality and Fresh

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Van Zyverden Fritillarias or Crown Imperial bulbs were very fresh and healthy large bulbs. They were well packaged and came with a useful informative sheet. I liked that this is a set of bulbs that includes both orange and yellow varieties of flowers. I like that Van Zyverden has bulbs for unique flowers that are not common in my area and makes it easy to put in something in the garden. I like that this type of plant has some height to it and an interesting upside down bell shaped cluster flowers. Something that was surprising was that the bulbs are known for their skunky pungent smell and I could smell them as soon as they arrived even in their packaging. They are stinky and musky, so don't plant them near windows or doorways. This is why they have the Dutch nickname of “stinky lily.” Once they were planted, I couldn't smell them anymore but it is important to know about the smell so you are not surprised as I was. They were easy to plant this Fall. I am really looking forward to these bulbs blooming and thriving in the upcoming seasons!
