Fix What You Can: Worth while for any parent

In her sincere effort to share the painful struggle with her son's schizophrenia and the state system's inadequate ability to respond supportively, Mindy Greiling shares a powerful lesson with every reader who has dealt with a challenging adult offspring. Not only does this book encourage parents to find the perspective to do their best to understand their own child's challenges, it offers constructive insight into the barriers many confront when dealing with bureaucracies in hospitals, care facilities and government. This book is most valuable for its substance rather than style; but though the subject matter is hard, it is an easy read and a book one wants to finish. I felt empowered to do more and do it more patiently as a parent after reading this book. Also, I felt motivated to work harder as a citizen to improve the way mental health issues are addressed by the social systems we have in place.
