Unlike the filter it replaced, this one is HEPA-certified, which reduces allergens thrown back into the room. In addition, also unlike gilter being replaced, this one comes with a plastic screw-on cap to keep it in place. The filter it replaced had to be pressure-seated over the motor assembly to stay in place. So, when the old one had to be removed, you had to apply considerable lifting force to dislodge it from its base, which resulted in lots of dust all over the surrounding area,,, never mind over my face! This one, on the other hand, glides effortlessly over the motor's cover and slides effortlessly off again after you unscrew its easy-to-unscrew quarter-coin-size black plastic cap. I will never go back to my previous filter type from the other manufacturer. I am also keeping a few of these in my own stock, even if the are washable, as I prefer to throw away washable paper filters once dirty anyway. Great choice filters!
