Keep in mind this rug is very thin. I knew that when I bought it, that doesn't bother me bc of the huge size I needed and it was such a great price for the size! I'd say it's not the softest but it's not rough at all and will hold up great with my little dogs & cats. Colors are perfect bc my house is mostly beige, not grey
