so yes it's plastic and ugly at first glance and it doesn't look exactly like the picture, BUT I promise you once you put it all together and turn it on it really makes the tree look so beautiful! I must warn you what not to do to put this together. Don't line up each cone with it's shape it must first be aligned side ways then twist it..put the small ones in first...I love this star I would buy another in a heart beat

Bought it for my church foyer tree. takes patience to assemble but looks great once lighted. It is plastic like many posts state but what isn't. Sits on the tree well, easily (6.5' tree) withouht support. Trying to get one for my own personal tree.
