Excellent Tall Size Jacket

Tall Sizing: I was skeptical when ordering, since I normally order and XL and the sleeves are still short with normal sizing, so I went with a tall XL hoping the sleeves were a perfect fit. I am tall but slender with broad shoulders. 6'2" with a 34 inch waist. When the jacket arrived there was too much sleeve. I didn't think it could be possible. So I ordered a Large and it was a perfect fit. Enough space around the torso to wear layers without the jacket looking like a balloon. The sleeves were perfect. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried on supposed tall sizes to find the sleeves were barely longer than regular sizes. This is my first purchase from Eddie Bauer in a tall size and I now will be a faithful customers. Jacket build & function: This jacket is extremely light and thin. Both the lining and the shell are made from the same material. There is a small pouch included that is looped into the jacket but is easily removable making this jacket easy to store. The jacket is warm enough to be considered a coat but light enough that you can throw it in a backpack and not notice the weight. I haven't worn it in the rain and a very light hood would have been nice for the rain, something that doesn't hang off the back. The pockets are very large. There are two internal pockets on each side as well as the two external pockets. I can fit a large gatorade bottle into the pockets thought it isn't designed for that much weight. I tend to keep less things in the pockets so I can fold up this jacket for convenience. I have warn this jacket outside in 30 degree weather with just a short sleeved shirt underneath and haven't felt the cold. Bottom line if you are on the fence buy it. If you are tall and find your sleeves are too short buy their tall size. It is now my favorite jacket of all time.

Great jacket!

I bought this jacket for my husband in the large, tall size. (He is 6'3" tall, 200 lbs.) The fit is perfect. This jacket is so light weight that he was able to wear it under a sport coat without adding extra bulk. It kept him warm but didn't cause overheating. This jacket packs up easily and can be carried in a work bag. Great jacket!

This is a very nice, lightwieght coat

When I first received this jacket, I was not sure what to make of it. It seemed so lightweight, that I doubted it would little more than take a slight chill off of a 45 degree day. I am 5'9" tall, and 155 lbs, and the size medium is perfect, with room to gain some weight. I was immediately able to test it out in 40 degree weather, with nothing other than a long-sleeve tee shirt underneath. It kept me warm no problem at all. I was pleasantly surprised. Shortly thereafter the temp dropped into the low 30s. I added a cotton fleece as a lower layer (that fit generously, with no problem), and it that is all it took to keep me warm. Two days ago we went into the 20s with strong, cold wind (wind chill at -5 F). At this point, I added a size medium Eddie Bauer Sandstone Shield Hoodie (soft shell, item # 088-792-3704). This is part of the "First Ascent" line. With this soft shell, over the puffy, over the fleece, I took the cold weather and biting wind easily. I was surprised and amazed. I grew-up in the era of buying a single jacket (North Face Extreme) that could handle brutal cold with a single coat. I had my doubts that the layering method could compete, but I was wrong. All in, for a few hundred bucks I was able to buy a multi-weather system (all Eddie Bauer) that can very nearly match (in 1991 dollars) a $700 quallofill insulated coat. North Face earned my loyalty as a customer 25 years ago. But I have a new go-to company, and that is Eddie Bauer. A few years ago I bought some simple T-shirts, which I abuse, and the Eddie Bauer ones are holding strong. I also own some of their bed blankets - also excellent. If you are like me, and you have your "favorite" brand, I would encourage you to give Eddie Bauer a try. I did, and I am glad I did so. I feel like I am paying for quality and not flash, which is the way I like to spend my money on outdoor gear.
