Because I live in a small space, I'm usually drawn to multi-purpose furniture pieces (storage). But, I was drawn to the clean lines of the Owen Retro Coffee Table in Sonoma Oak finish. This coffee table really is quite attractive and has an open feeling that creates more visual space. The table top is described as engineered wood, but, it appears to be a solid piece of wood. It has a grey tone to the wood that makes it look modern and yet have a rustic look. I do not like the look of “country” – I’m one who enjoys the mid-century modern décor. However, I think this piece could look at home in any décor; from country to modern. The corners are a little sharp. If you have toddlers, you could easily put corner protectors on it. This table came in GREAT condition with no damage whatsoever. The legs were VERY easy to attach and they are sturdy. I put it together without even looking at the directions. (I recommend ALWAYS to read instructions first, though). The instruction booklet says the table should not have more than 40 pounds on it because it is only designed to hold up to 40 pounds. However, as you can see from the attached picture, my two Westies decided to get on it as soon as my back was turned. Together they weigh almost 50 pounds (they are a little big for Westies). The table did not seem to strain a bit under their weight. I do not recommend putting more than 40 pounds on the table-my dogs are not ones to listen to reason. I recommend this table to anyone. Don’t be fooled by the low price. It looks like quality.
