Really, I Am F.I.N.E. is a simple book to help start a conversation about a healthy way to process feelings and emotions for children. We often get the reply "Really, I am fine." when we ask someone how they are doing. We have learned that "really, I am fine" stands for "Feelings, Inside, Not, Expressed". Each of us have to "own" at least 1% of any situation no matter how we got there. We are the only ones that have the skills to choose how we react. Sometimes, simply being heard can heal a broken heart. Covid-19 has brought so many new challenges to navigate and has put our children through a lot. We need to help them understand that it is ultimately their choice to move from being a victim to a victor. A small key can open a large door to understanding that a bad situation does NOT have to define their entire life. They can move beyond death, divorce, bullying, a pandemic or any other challenge or loss they face. They need to understand that it is okay to not always be okay. They can heal by learning to express their feelings and process the pain these events have caused. If they cannot undo what has happened, then hopefully, they can understand that they CAN do something about how they react.
