Beautiful stools, however not too sturdy.

The stools themselves are beautiful. However, they are too large for my room. My husband put them together, but had issues with holes and parts lining up. A couple of them weren't able to be screwed in . The chairs are comfortable. However, the description says that they will handle the weight of 300 pounds, we are both not even near that and when we sit on them, they crackle when we swivel or just sit and move. I would like to return them however, I don't have the boxes, Is there a way to return them without the boxes. I am disappointed and would like to return them.
