Damaged; Poor instructions; Mostly sturdy piece
I like this kitchen island. With the exception of the center shelf, it is sturdy. I would not recommend putting much weight on the center shelf. The assembly instructions were practically useless. They advised to remove the drawer from the top prior to assembling, but the drawer would NOT come out making the rest of the assembly difficult. It came with hardware to support the center shelf, but there were no pre-drilled holes in the shelf or the legs and we were afraid we would damage the legs by drilling into them; also, there was no logical place to put the center shelf hardware that wouldn't look ridiculous/cheap and no flat surface that would hold the hardware on the legs. In addition, the item was damaged in 2 places when I received it, but I wasn't going to the trouble of packing it back up and shipping it for a return. This item is heavy. Overall, for the price, it serves my purpose.
