I have Grohe products exclusively in my home and didn't consider any other brands when deciding to do a complete remodel of our master bathroom. I purchased the Grandera floor mounted tub filler because of its beauty and craftsmanship, but also because the showroom we purchased it through told us the curved neck rotates left/right. This was a key feature as it gives flexibility regarding installation location and height.
Unfortunately, Grohe's instructions are notoriously limited and, in this case, don't provide any guidance, reminders or cautions for the installers to consider regarding location placement. For the price of this fixture, this is a significant oversight.
Bottom line, the curved neck DOES NOT rotate left/right. It is in a fixed position. In our case, we mounted it in the center of the tub lengthwise, on the back side. We mounted it fairly close to the tub (3” from top of tub to vertical post) to aide in easy control access, only to discover without a rotating head, it sticks too far into the tub! Costly mistake that could have been avoided had Grohe made clear, declarative statements about features (leaving nothing to interpret) and installation guidelines & recommendations.
So either the tub gets moved out, or the fixture gets relocated. Both involve plumbing and tile work….the only blessing is the bathroom has crawl space access below….
