This particular type of cedar is best known for its strong, distinctive aroma and its soft, fine, even texture. Eastern Aromatic Red Cedar is naturally resistant to insects, rot, and decay, and is the type of wood most often used for cedar closets, cedar chests, and fence posts.
- Gorgeous Finish Using Oil-Based Sealer - We have opted for an oil-based outdoor sealer for this furniture collection, as it brings out the rich redness of the cedar and creates an amber warmth to the coloring of the furniture. The use of this sealer helps our furniture maintain its color and resist water. If your furniture is outside and unprotected from the sun, rain, wind, and elements, we recommend that you restain once per year to maintain the beautiful look of the furniture. If you position the furniture in an area that is partially protected from the elements, such as on a porch, we recommend restaining after one year and then once every 2-3 years after that. Any oil-based outdoor sealer in a Cedar tone should work, but we use the Finish Works FL5812.
