Wonderful Regency Romance!

This book has everything a good Regency novel should have: a dashing hero, a beautiful heroine who is able to stand on her own, and an overbearing and disapproving mother who believes that her son has married beneath his social class. Complications are bound to happen but what if that hero is also a secret spy? Yes, the new Duke of Haverly is a secret agent for the Crown and his decision to take a bride is mainly to protect his true identity from being exposed. Marcus Haverly doesn't need a wife to love, he just needs someone to manage his estate so that he can carry on his secret activities! This would first appear to be a marriage of convenience story but it doesn't take long for Marcus to realize that he has underestimated the intelligence of Charlotte Tiptree. As I read this book, I was reminded of the Regency novels that I've read in the past and I truly believe that Erica Vetsch has found the genre that she was meant to write. The Gentleman Spy has intrigue, adventure, memorable characters, and a smoldering attraction that threatens to explode into a heart-pounding romance! This is the second book in the Serendipity

The Gentleman Spy

It is easy to fall in love with this book because the characters are so genuine and intriguing. I love how the historical facts are indeed accurate and take you back in time. The author does a great job of researching the time period to make the story so inviting. I loved how the story flows as we are introduced to key characters that will take us on a journey we will cherish. Marcus is a gentleman who stole my heart with his manners, intelligence and vulnerability. His loyalty to others is definitely a plus and propels him to the top of my list of favorite characters. Im not sure he cared much for his title which brought a snicker from me. Its why I adored him so because he is a down to earth person who doesnt care about nobility. Charlotte could be my friend with her love for books and that uncanny ability to speak her mind. She has no filter when it comes to letting others know how she feels. Charlotte at times doesnt trust men so getting to know Marcus would be a challenge for both of them. I loved how the author slowly builds on their relationship as they face struggles, danger and a journey that gave me goosebumps. I am always interested in books where spys are involved. The danger alone is enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. Get ready for a treat in this Regency story rich in history as Marcus and Charlotte learn to trust and follow Gods direction. I loved reading about Marcus and his adventure as a mystery unfolds to add intrigue to the story. Its a great look at two people learning to respect each other and finding unconditional love. I received a copy of this book from Read With Audra blog tours. The review is my own opinion.

The Gentleman Spy

Gentleman Spy continues Erica Vetsh's fabulous Serendipity and Secrets series. Even though it is part of a series, I do feel readers will be okay reading this one if they have not read the first book, The Lost Lieutenant. Though, they will want to pick it up, also. I loved getting to know Charlotte and Marcus. They had perfect chemistry. I had to keep reading to find out how it ended. Such a beautiful tale. It definitely should not be missed. I am giving Gentleman Spy a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this one for readers who enjoy clean historical Regency era romances. I received this book from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
