Josh's Frogs is proud to offer a variety of mixed Rex Begonias, perfect for growing in a naturalistic vivarium. Begonia Rex - Grower's Choice are a variety of man-made hybrids, grown for their unique and colorful leaves. Begonia Rex - Grower's Choice are not specifically identified so the plant name will not be included with the plant.

Begonias are very popular plants for both indoor and outdoor gardeners due to their wide variety of colorful foliage and ease of care.  These colorful plants are also called Rex Begonias, include hundreds of hybrids that come in many varieties that are often chosen more for their leaf color than insignificant blossoms.  They prefer shaded but humid conditions with rich soil.  They tend to rot in soggy soil, so keep them well drained.  Their leaf size varies per type and can be small all the way up to 5" wide. They are most often a bushy growing plant which makes them a great candidate for a pot or hanging basket or also as an accent houseplant.

Container Gardens/Terrariums/Houseplant:

For the above reasons, this plant is an excellent candidate to keep as a house plant.  At smaller sizes like Josh’s Frogs sells it at, the plant will also do well in a container garden or terrarium for quite a while before it will have to be taken out and transplanted.

Vivariums/Animal Terrariums:

This plant is a very popular vivarium plant when purchased at a small size like Josh’s Frogs offers.  Since it does well in moist, humid conditions, Begonias do well in a vivarium and will create a nice thick foliage that can be placed in the middle-back areas of the tank.  Their broad leaves allow many creatures to take cover underneath.  

As good practice, Josh's Frogs recommends washing all plants thoroughly removing as much soil as possible with dechlorinated water before placing them in their final home. Plants from Josh’s Frogs are specifically grown to be safe for use with animals. Live plants may vary in color, size and appearance.
