I have used these so many times I've lost count - over and over. My latest use was in setting up "lasagna" beds -- they staked down cardboard over turf, so I could then pile on my layers without the cardboard shifting. Have used to stake down Remay, pin down rose canes for propagating -- anything you need to stake reliably.

essential tool for our area

We use earth staples to hold down low fencing materials to keep critters out of our garden. This year I am going to apply some sheet plastic to the ground around the beds to finish killing off the grass that cardboard and landscape fabric didn't. I will use the earth staples to help hold this down. We use the ones that are flush with the ground so that the mower doesn't clip them.

I use these with the Edge Border. As a previous reviewer stated these are so much better than what you buy at the local home improvement store. They are sturdier and longer so when I lay down the edge border and push these through they go deeper into the ground.
