About the Author
I have lived in Las Vegas with my family for thirty-five years. We chose between freedom in the United States or a sheltered existence with the communist system in Hungary. We decided with my son to change, and we came to the United States to have a better future. In Hungary, I was a divorce and criminal attorney. In my free time, I was also a tour guide for tourist groups from all of the neighboring countries. I had been involved with the public since I was a student at the law school in Budapest. I had many life experiences with people as an attorney as well as a tour guide. In Las Vegas, my life changed. I worked as a table game dealer most of my time and still served the public for many more years. I wanted to do also something else, something different, then dealing cards. I did paralegal studies and finished the mental health advisory education at the College of South Nevada. My son got my priority; therefore my most important job was to help and protect him all the way. Being a dealer for poker games requires, besides focus, people skills, to be able to stay on top of the ball. During my time as a dealer, if I may say, I saw it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. And now I want to have cozy times with my family as a writer. The mental health study helped me to organize my knowledge about people's lives and understand them better. My goal always has been to be happy and to make people around me happy as well. After all my studies and experiences, I felt it was important to give back something to the people who were always nice to me. With my books, I would like to give them hope for their future. If we were able to accomplish so many things with my son, the struggle was worth it, and everybody else can do it too. During my mental health education, I realized that there are many new useful ideas and knowledge in the field of psychology. One of them is brain plasticity, which provides new perspectives for people with brain damage and undergoing therapies. Our brain commands our bodies and lives toward eternity. Our brain can do positive and negative changes along the way. It depends on how we are thinking. Oftentimes our lives depend on a split second. We have to be aware and take nothing for granted. We all follow the road to our self-fulfilling prophecy while we play our role based on our core values. It is important which road we choose and how we play our role. In one of my favorite movies, As Good As It Gets, they showed nothing is impossible for Melvin, although he was an egodystonic, obsessive-compulsive person. Melvin's life was a kind of self-created confinement with his books, a pile of soap in his bathroom cabinet, and a half-dozen locks on his entrance door. He was surrounded by neighbors who disliked him because of his insulting manner. He was able to change everything with his love for Carol and empathy for his neighbor. He also started to cure his disorder with his positive thinking and the rewarding changes he made in his life. Our happiness is in us, in our daily life, and that is probably not "the bluebird over the rainbow," what some people are thinking. I hope my book will be enjoyable to read and help to find friendship, love, and happiness. Our horizon is brighter with new experiences, and that is what my book provides.
