Customer Service Review

I don't have a lot to say about how great the camera and monitor function (although I believe both are good) but I am reviewing based on an issue I had. Three months after purchasing the monitor the jack in the parent monitor would no longer hold the usb cable to charge it which lead to the parent monitor being inoperable. I called infant optics and spoke to Emma. She was quick to help me with the problem. Turns out my unit was defective. I sent back the parent monitor to Infant Optics in CA. Emma was super fast in emailing me back to get a new monitor sent out. I did have to pay $13 for shipping the defective unit back (they do not cover return shipments in the warranty) but Emma was able to get me free 2 day shipping on my new unit instead of the usual 7-10 days. Overall, I am happy with how customer service responded to the problem with my 3 month old DXR-8 parent monitor unit. Hopefully the new one holds up well (fingers crossed).

Best Baby Monitor I've Used

Really happy with this monitor so far. Previously I used a Nest and a Summer Infant monitor. The Nest had an awesome picture but the app will not run in the background of phones, so you can't hear what's going on unless you always have the app open. Also having to rely on the wifi/internet connection is not ideal. With the Summer Infant I liked the larger screen but the picture was not good and the battery life was absolutely terrible. The DXR-8 has a good picture and battery life has been great so far. I also like that it shows you the temperature in the room where the camera is. There is one thing I'd like to see changed which I've seen in some of the other reviews. To change the volume you have to go through either the menu or shortcuts. It would be nice if you could remap the arrow buttons to either control the pan tilt or control the volume without having to hit an extra button.

Beats out the expensive Motorola monitors

We have been fighting with our Motorola monitors for 3 years now. Lost signal, monitor just stops working, beeping in the middle of the night, random shut-offs, sound loss and numerous battery issues. We've gone through two monitors in three years. Finally I was fed up and ordered this Infant Optics monitor and a second camera. AHHH finally, a breath of fresh air! The moment we turned it on was sweet relief from all of the issues we've had with the Motorola set. Good battery life, works great cycling through two cameras, decent range, good visuals. Wish we had bought this one first instead of going through the expense of the Motorola monitors! Only con is that it does not have the capability to connect to a WiFi network to watch the cameras remotely, but I guess that could be a pro if you are worried about someone hacking in to your cameras. Overall I would recommend this over the Motorolas any day! Note: we are only on week one. Will update if my opinions change!
