MUSEHOMEINC Rustic Wood 3-Tier Nightstand with Storage Shelf and Drawer, White Washed Finish

We are doing a whole house renovation and have gone more than double our budget so expensive nightstands were out of the question. I was looking for something contemporary and sleek in design to fit with the style of the house. I was happy to find these at Walmart who I know and trust to take products back if there is a problem. We were in a difficult position looking for small, inexpensive nightstands of good quality, online and unable to see what we were getting first hand. Honestly, I did not think I would find anything I was happy with. I ordered with skepticism, hoping for the best. Upon opening these, I was impressed that it was packaged nicely. The styrofoam surrounding the pieces was wrapped in plastic so there were no stray pieces of styrofoam all around the house to clean up afterwards. I was very impressed that this item was solid wood - it was the reason I purchased it. It went together easily for us. My fiancée is an engineer so it could be a little more difficult for others I suppose. He read the directions and changed the order of two steps to make it easier. I can not remember which steps they were, but it involved the installation of the dowel pieces what hold the drawers in. I liked the color and finish - it feels like god quality furniture would. I feel happy with the quality that did not cost the $300-$400 I was seeing elsewhere for solid wood nightstands. The one disappointment for me was that the drawers are not on drawer glides. They are wood-on-wood - almost primitive, which I do not like in my furniture. The drawers pull in and out fairly easily but the manufacturer could have, for a few dollars more, put drawer glides on to make the nightstand MUCH better quality. Other than the drawers being very cheaply designed, I was really happy with the look and feel of the nightstand. I searched for quite some time to find something made of solid wood that would not break in six months. I also needed something with legs that could be trimmed a little if necessary. Fortunately, the size dimensions were accurate, and that was not necessary. I am including pictures but was unable to get the camera in the drawers to take photos of the wooden dowels holding the drawers in so they would not slide all the way out each time you pul the drawers open. All-in-all, I am happy with my purchase.

A solid, mostly well-made nightstand at a good price. Pros: o real wood! (not pressboard) o basic assembly, with dowels and wood screws (philips screwdriver required) o although lacking words, the assembly schematics are self-explanatory and clear o looks good, feels solid o kit included extra screws and dowels, and anti-tip wall anchors for earthquake zones Cons: o my nightstand had an uneven top (see photos), indicating a lack of quality control o pre-drilled slot for one screw poorly aligned such that screw slotted in between two pieces of wood o difficult to align things symmetrically; ideally there would be pre-drilled holes for wood pieces receiving screws Plan on some time for assembly: 1 hour for somebody who is handy, routinely works with tools; 2 hours for somebody proceeding with extra care.
