For a specific size of cake, and with one small modification, this cake carrier is excellent. We always use 8" round cake pans, and we enjoy a single layer cake over the traditional two layer cake. A single layer, 8" round cake fits perfectly in this carrier. Most cake mixes are for TWO layers, so we have TWO of these cozies! These kind of carriers have two cheap plastic latches on the bottom platen which "snap" onto the top cover to keep the carrier closed. A simple modification to make this kind of closure last without breaking is to bevel the front edge of the latch on each side by taking a nail clippers and snipping off just a bit of the leading edge of the latch with a 45 degree cut.
