Coolaroo Round Cantilever Patio Umbrella, 90% UV Block, 10', Smoke

My patio faces due west with no roof or covering. In lieu of heavy construction, I bought two of these in May '08 to provide cover from the harsh afternoon sun. I have been extremely pleased with this product. Since they are offset, they cover the area nicely without getting in the way. In addition, since you can adjust the angle of the umbrella, you can control the amount of shade you get throughout the day. Everyone is amazed by how easy it is to do that by myself. I assembled both of them by myself and that was fairly simple, taking about 30 minutes each. After attaching a piece of water resistant plywood to the legs (there are holes in them for this type of thing), I placed four 24" square pavers as stabilizers. This has made them virtually unmovable. they are naturally top heavy, so some sort of base weight is required if you don't want them to fall over on you and your guests if a descent wind blows through. During a severe storm, which included tornadoes, I was able to quickly remove the umbrellas from the bases by removing the securing screw and lifting the main section off the base. I just laid them on the patio and they made it through fine. Until I am able to construct something more permanent, I think these are the next best thing. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a semi-permanent solution for shade. They have handled some pretty good wind and are easy to close if it gets too windy. A great buy!

We rarely order things online, particularly large items like this. It exceeded our expectations in ease of assembly and setup, and is exactly what was promised. It looks great and is very sturdy, and much less expensive than many others we looked at.
