ChargePoint Level 2 240V Outdoor Charging Station for Electric Car (2 Pack)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to get the ChargePoint Home Flex electric car charger because it's one of the highest rated and most recommended level 2 home chargers available. This is my first electric car and first home charger. It is one of the most expensive home chargers, but the charging speed, quality, and warranty (3 years!) seem to justify the price. There are also a lot of public ChargePoint chargers in my area, so it is convenient to have one app for both, which allows me to keep track of all my charging, public or at home, in one app. It is easy to install. This particular model has a NEMA plug (not hard wired) so it's easy to install it yourself if you already have an available 240V 40A outlet, otherwise you'll need an electrician to add the appropriate outlet. It charges significantly faster than a standard outlet, so my EV was able to charge up in just a few hours rather than overnight. It connects to your WiFi and is controlled with an app on your phone. It has smart features to optimize charging during off peak hours, saving money. It can also be controlled remotely and you can set up charging schedules. It has a 23 foot long cable, which was plenty of length for my setup. Mine came with a J1772 charging cable, although it also has the option for an NACS cable, which works for Tesla, and a lot of other manufacturers are now switching to. That makes the ChargePoint future proof and compatible with more EVs. I think the price may be the only drawback, but otherwise I would recommend this home charger.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the charger installed by our electrician, who immediately said he's very familiar with the brand, and 8/10 installs he does is actually with this product! It made me feel very comfortable as a cheap charger can lead to house fires! Not only does the charger charge my Tesla much quicker than my pervious station, but I love the app! There is no bugs that I have yet to encounter, which usually drive me crazy! I get home, plug my car in and know the app will take care of the rest. My utility company has started billing more expensive on "Peak Hours", and my Chargepoint app lets me set what time I want my Tesla to start and stop charging, so I am not billed more. Before I programed it to a specific time every night, I had it hooked up to my Alexa, which was very nice as well. The cord and plug are made of a very hardy feeling material, which is a huge plus for me since I have the tendancy to drop things. I have yet to drop the charger head, but know it will come soon. I'm not too worried however, as it definitely feels strudy enough to not crack. One thing I am hoping will eventually be adapted is a type of auto return system, similar to some extension cords that are in a round case that you pull and it releases slack, and when you pull fast it auto returns. This would be helpful so the cable isnt just wrapped around the wall charger. Maybe one day in the future!
