What is Fenugreek?

Fenugreek is a small plant of Fabaceae family. Its leaves and seeds are commonly used as a herb, spice, vegetable and in topical hair and skin care products. The scientific name is Trigonella Foenum Graecum.

How to use Fenugreek Powder

As a dietary supplement:4 to 30 gm/day. (4 grams=1 tsp). You can take this in divided doses. Or as directed by a physician.

Roasting reduces the bitterness and clumpiness of powder. Add honey, fennel seeds, mint leaves, coriander seeds or lime juice in your tea or recipes to mask its taste.

As a culinary spice: Add ¼ to½ tsp of powder in curry pastes, soups, pasta, stews, pickles, salad, rice, and other dishes.

As skin and hair mask: Mix Fenugreek powder and water to make lotion like consistency. Apply over hair and face, let it dry for 20 minutes, wash with warm water.
