'Followers of Jesus need to be more than good and kind. We need to have powerful messages to share. What does Jesus mean to you? How do you live differently than others?'
It's statements like these that really set the tone for Be the Hands and Feet, Nick Vujicic's new book. Mr. Vujicic has never been afraid to tackle the hard questions, but with this book, takes it to a whole new level. The book on a whole is convicting and challenging to the Christian. At the same time, though, it offers constructive ways to live up to its title message of being the hands and feet of Jesus.
Reading through this book, it feels at times like you're sitting on the couch with Mr. Vujicic, and just talking with him. Discussions of spiritual matters, or even just life in general. He shares stories from home with his wife and children, and from the road in his many travels, speaking and preaching. It really does feel like you're in the room with him.
While an easy read, the subject matter is anything but. The book is challenging, yes, and I read it slowly, wanting to take everything in, but at the same time, not wanting to be responsible for the knowledge I was gaining. You KNOW that this book was written to be both a challenge and encouragement to those of us in the Church. Fortunately, he includes some help. An entire chapter is dedicated to practical ideas and encouragement on how to be the hands and feet, how to serve Jesus and your community.
In all, it's a wonderful read, an easy-yet-difficult read, but one that will inspire you. I love what Mr. Vujicic says in the chapter God's Big Tent about the church's - and therefore our - responsibility in this life:
