This fan uses a brushed motor, which is: Better for the environment, more durable, powerful and efficient, draws less power, lasts longer, and is quieter during operation. It's a little pricey, but definitely worth it as an investment into a fan that will outlive and outperform any other competitor, by a WIDE margin. A million times superior to any comparable ‘Lasko' product. Vornado literally puts it's competitors to shame with this tower fan! I have lived in two houses in inland non-temperate climates in the past 6-9 months in the Salt Lake City area (one without AC entirely and the second with an awful miniature AC unit), and this fan has literally been used to supplement or simply replace the AC system. Its capacity to cool open spaces is INCREDIBLE. I'd give it a 100/10 if I could, it is amazing!
