The majority of hard light can be controlled by either being bounced off or diffused throughthe slightly reflective material, resulting in the perfect picture every time. White: Great for reducing shadows, the white reflector will cast a soft and delicate light onto the subject to create a natural effect. White will not alter the color of the light, making it ideal for indoor and outdoor portraits. Black: Black reflectors are excellent for absorbing unwanted light and casting aesthetic shadows. When placed to the side of a subject’s head, black can soften the eyes, making them appear more natural under the sharp sunshine. Gold: When creating warm tones, the gold reflector will decrease the exposure from the background to the foreground. This results in a more natural effect when backlighting, gently mimicking the radiant glow of the sun. Gold works best when taking portraits in the natural sunlight and under soft, warm backgrounds. Silver: The silver will reflect the greatest amount of light and can provide a sharp and bright contrast light. This brightening effect will highlight fine surface textures and improve color saturation. It can also create a colder tone in photographs.Silver is often placed under a subject’s head to reflect light onto the face, creating a beautiful brightening effect. Translucent: Translucent reflectors especially stand out as they will trail off sharp light to create images with the softest light and the least amountof shade contrast.
