Nice looking but a bit noisy

We really like the way the unit looks above the cooktop. When on its fastest setting the unit is quite noisy. Not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that it is not vented to the exterior but I tend to stick with the low and medium settings. The light is nice and bright.

Won't turn on or off!

We bought this range hood last summer and at first it worked great. But after a few months it wouldn't turn on. Then an hour later it would. Finally it went in to the repairman where they tightened the insides and brought it back. Again it worked fine for a couple of months. Now we are back to intermittent starting. But it also is not turning off sometimes! We are resorting to unplugging it! Any words of advice before it returns to the repairman?
