Salvage operations were undertaken in 1972 at Mound 15, which was to be removed for Nestlé warehouse expansion. A complex series of platforms of the Late Preclassic to Protoclassic periods were uncovered, as well as numerous caches and burials dating to the Guancaste, Horcones, and Istmo phases.
