I can't say how this washes or lasts, but I did want to say how nice this rug feels. It feels like faux fur, only without the length of faux fur. This is the 5x7. I've had washable rugs before that were more like a rough and heavy blanket. This is not like that. This is like a normal non-washable rug, only a bit lighter and much more pliable. My dogs love it too. I just ordered a second rug, the 2x8.
