ORDINARY PEOPLE

THE STORY REFLECTS REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES AND WATCHING IT HELPED ME TO SEE HOW AS A MOTHER AND WIFE, I CAN BE SELF ABSORBED IN GRIEF AND START HURTING THE FAMILY WITHOUT KNOWING IT. IMPORTANT TO HAVE COUNSELING AT SOME POINT ESPECIALLY WHEN LOVED ONES SUGGEST IT TO US.

Deep story of family disfunction

The story is certainly a dark portrayal of a family's disfunction. Since I live close to Lake Forest, IL where much of this movie was filmed, I enjoyed seeing views of familiar areas and buildings I am familiar with - as they existed in the 1970s.

Great movie!

Superb performance and depiction of what society's views in 1970's regarding getting psychiatric help for problems! While I wish that attitude was extinct, it does still live on in those born before 1950. I really identified with the son, and his problems with his mother.
