They say sitting is the new smoking, and that sitting 8 hours a day is as damaging to your health as smoking two packs of cigarettes a day. My job as a writer and web design project manager puts me in the position of spending long hours at my computer every day, so I decided I needed to do something about all the sitting I had to do for my job. The answer? A standing height desk! However, many standing desks are outrageously expensive, big and bulky, or just plain ugly. It took a lot of research, but I finally found the perfect standing desk, and this is it. I love how minimal and attractive this desk is. It's a nice tall desk, and provides a work space large enough for a small lamp, a laptop, a book, a snack, and a cup of coffee, but it manages to do that without being big, ugly, and bulky. It is perfect for the small space I wanted to transform into an office for myself. I am 5'4"" myself, and the lowest setting on this desk is the perfect height for me, but it also adjusts high enough for my 6'2"" husband to use. Because I do want to be able to sit from time to time, as well, I went ahead and ordered the Winsome Wood 29-Inch RTA Single Saddle Seat Bar Stool also from Hayneedle, in the Walnut finish. It is a perfect fit for this desk, both height-wise, and in the finish color! I LOVE MY NEW WORKSPACE!!
