Scottish Painting : 1837 to the Present. William Hardie

This book traces the beginnings of Scottish painting from the foundation of the Foulis Academy in 1753. Now in its 3rd edition, it contains a new introduction and final chapter that covers the latest developments in Scottish painting, such as Richard Wright's win of the 2009 Turner Prize. William Hardie is an acknowledged authority on Scottish painting. He was educated at Glasgow Academy and Glasgow University. He was Keeper of Art at Dundee Art Gallery and Museum and later acting Assistant Director. He joined Christie's in Scotland and set up the Scottish Pictures Department.
