Pictures do not do her justice!

She is so beautiful in person. Everything about her reminds me of my childhood. Her hair, her face, the perfectly balanced jewelry (simple yet not understated), the colors...so vibrant! This is the doll I would have begged for as a child in the 80's. As an adult, she will be a cherished addition to my "Superstar" collection.

She's Beautiful!

Bought her for $70 USD as the "Welcome back barbie" purchased the day I decided to start adding to my collection again. Probably one of my fave barbies, I should have waited for the sale. She's half price now, but I really thought she would sell out because she's just so cool! She's the third in the series, I like the other two but not for their price tags. This one though, I feel in love with after I watched Suresh's unboxing video (YouTube) because her promo photos are gross...maybe that's why they didn't sell out as fast because if everyone knew how great she really was, doll collectors would lose their minds. Anyway, there's a lot of story behind this doll so I will try to make it as short as possible. For starters, she is designed and based off Andy Warhol's painting from 1986. He was actually commissioned to do a portrait of some guy, but when he showed up at his place, he wasn't there but he saw he was a barbie collector, so he painted Barbie instead. As a result of that, the designer gave her the 'super star' face sculpt because that was the faces all the Barbies had in the 80s and the face that Andy referenced. They did a great job making her look like an older doll and I appreciate tributes that go this in depth very much, so I wanted to share that. As an artist myself, I can appreciate the effort there. Normally I would ask for a framed box, but for this barbie, i liked it as is. I get a very gallery feeling, like painting behind the glass kind of vibe so I liked it. She looks like a sculpture in a glass box. AA+ for putting his signature on it too amirite!! So once she's out, she's fun to hold. The first thing I did after admiring her was wash her hair because it was way to heavy on the gel and not in the good way because it was only in the front. After I washed her hair, she looked even more beautiful!! She was the first barbie I got with the model muse body, and I always say 'work it' whenever i take her out. That body just screams that xD Her make up is done exactly the same way Andy had painted her which is so cute!! Even her hair is like super yellow blond because that's how she is in the painting. It's not like she can do the splits or anything, but I really appreciate that her arms are articulated. She is really fun to pose as a result, especially her hands being so preppy and fab with her red manicure, it's everything. I like her 80s jewelry too! Big fat diamonds everywhere, earrings, ring and necklace just suits the times. The print of the painting as her dress is really cool and different. I never seen Barbie do this. It's very simple strapless gown with the slit to be sexy and I think it fits her so snug, nice clasps on the back so it is removable. Its awesome. The shoes, ah the shoes. I don't have this specific shoe mold on any barbie yet. Idk if it's new but its so pointed and has a skinny heal like its just so super model. I love the shade of blue too and it has textured plastic on it that is meant to look like glass shattered on it. The reason for this is because Andy Warhol had what he called his "diamond dust' technique which he'd crush glass and put it in his art for texture. So they did it too her shoes and let me tell u, I just imagine a Prince getting his hands on one of those and looking for his Cinderella because thats freakin cool. (Alot of Andy info on the back of the box!) And everyone's fave part! The faux fur shall with the tastles! It's soooo soft and wonderful. The colors are to diieeee forr, this barbie in general is so colorful. And she holds it in so many ways.. Personally, I like it almost off, because it feels so sensual when U see her bare arms underneath its just more like oh snap, she's taking it off, s*** is serious. Time to seduce the king , know what i mean? No? Ok maybe I'm alone on that. Shes COOL ok. JS. Even her stand is heavier than the dolls I have been getting recently. She's truley quality and even tho I missed out on the sale, I would still pay all that money for her. (Cause in CAD + shipping and taxes like i dont even remember how much she was but a lot ok) And she was worth every penny. I adore her, she's perfect and one of my top favorites. 10/10 would recommend. Because i messed up her first unboxing tho, I had to come up with a creative way to do it right the second time and I did. It'll work out! I know better now for future dolls.
