Oil you can trust

I like Castrol oil in my lawnmower because after being in the mower for a couple of weeks it still looks like oil as opposed to the oil I had been using when you look at it it looks really thin and I wasn't sure it was protecting the engine buy with Castrol I'm sure.

Expensive

Straight 30 weight oil should be inexpensive. Small air cooled engines such as mowers and generators are designed to work with much cheaper multi-weight oils too. See your manual. There will be a chart showing range of temperatures for each oil type. Here in FL, I don't have cold weather requiring 10W-30, and oil consumption is definitely lower with the heavier fixed weight oil. My emergency generator may need to run for days in the event of a hurricane and I don't want to be consuming oil in addition to gas. For the generator, I wanted fixed weight oil. The price for conventional fixed weight oil is crazy high in my opinion. The manual says any fixed 30 weight oil meeting the modern standard published on the bottle is fine. There is nothing here to warrant the price other than 30 weight oil has become rare over the last 50 years. It used to be dirt cheap.
