I finally found the shorts I was looking for. Good length, conveniently-placed pockets, comfortable waistband. But I'm a little frightened after reading the Care label. Though it says the shorts are 95% polyester, and 5% elastane, it also says to wash in cold water, and do not use fabric softener. It also says no dry cleaning nor ironing. This all has me worried. Years ago I had a lovely pair of shorts, crisp and perfectly fitting. After I washed them once, they were like towels - all flippity-floppy and they would never again regain their shape. Will this pair of shorts do that? I don't have cold water right now (living in So Arizona) and I usually use fabric softener. But even if I refrain from the softener, will one wash in naturally hot water and one hang on the line in the sun damage the fabric and render the shorts shapeless and useless? I'm afraid to wash them now! I'll try to wait until the winter (when cool water returns) but that would mean wearing the shorts all season long without washing. Or- I'll try it… if they hold up I'll be back for more. If they become useless, I'll let you all know.
