fingers are smashed

so i ordered this for my 9 year old who has small hands. its looked nice and has real leather on it.. but. but. it does not not have 4 slots for the long fingers.. he is supposed to cram his pinky and ring finger into one hole and it was to shallow and was hurting him. I am returning it tomorrow.
