Many different methods, including asymmetric knots, offset warps, and skip warps, were used to create early Chinese rugs. Knots that are tied differently on the front and back of the rug are referred to as asymmetric knots. Offset warps are warp threads that are not spaced equally, giving the rug's pattern a wavelike appearance. Skip warps are instances of warp threads skipping places, which results in creating carved texture in the rug. Chinese rugs are frequently adorned with geometric designs like stripes, stars, and diamonds even animal designs, including horses, tigers, and dragons. Although silk or cotton were occasionally used, wool was the material of choice for most Chinese carpets.
