The Solvit Pet Vehicle Safety Harness is designed with pets' safety and comfort in mind. Heavy-duty straps attach to a fully-padded vest, with a breathable inner layer for optimal pet comfort. Only FULL METAL connectors are used at all load-bearing points. The safety leash integrates with the vehicle's seat belt tensioning device, thus providing range of motion while traveling, but in the case of a sudden stop it locks in place to keep pets secure. This design also makes it easy to load and unload pets, and installs easily in ALL vehicles. Use of a vehicle safety harness improves safety by reducing potential distractions for the driver.

Before installing in vehicle, decide how much freedom of movement your pet should have while traveling. With the seat belt engaged, the “shoulder” portion allows more movement than the “lap” portion. To reduce movement further, lock the seat belt by pulling it out to its fullest extent, then feeding it back (same procedure as that used with child safety seats). If the seat belt is not locked, pets will be able to move around more, and the vehicle’s seat belt tensioning device should lock the belt in the case of a sudden stop. We recommend using the leash at its shortest length to better secure your dog in this case.

Attach the safety leash to the seat belt by opening the “jaw” of the quick link, slide the seat belt into the quick link, then close by firmly hand tightening the threaded section. For convenience and quick access, we recommend leaving the safety leash installed in the vehicle (see image). For use in multiple vehicles, additional leashes are available by contacting Solvit customer service.

To fit the safety vest to your dog, disconnect the plastic quickrelease buckles on the rear straps, loosen the front straps, but do not disconnect them from the D rings, then slip the vest over the dog’s head so the front straps fit in front of the shoulders and behind the head and the vest covers the chest. Re-connect the plastic quick-release buckles on the rear straps. Carefully adjust all straps for a comfortable, but snug, fit. We recommend fitting the vest to the dog prior to loading in the car. Once the dog is in the car, simply connect the restraint leash to the D ring on the back of the vest.

• Promptly wipe up any foreign matter or liquid with a damp cloth or sponge.
• The vest portion is machine washable in cold water.
• Before washing, remove the “yoke” section which has the metal D rings - this piece should not go in the washing machine.
