Cant beat the stainless steel dough hook

I saw a lot of complaints about the coating coming off the Kitchen Aid dough hook so decided to get the stainless steel one instead. It arrived quickly and is very heavy/sturdy. Ive used it to make bread and its fantastic.

I lucked out and actually got STAINLESS STEEL!

I'm really horrified to read the reviews now that I've received my order. The one I got is correctly made from stainless steel, and I can only HOPE it does not have lead in it as someone else suggested. UGH! This item is very weighty compared to the original white coated aluminum one. All those complaining of the finish becoming tarnished or charcoal colored after one wash in the dishwasher have been sent a polished aluminum product that never should be used in food prep or put in the dishwasher. I presume KitchenAid's suppliers have been shipping aluminum ones instead of S.S., which is a travesty. KitchenAid, please stop outsourcing overseas and start making high-quality products we expect right here in the USA!!
