I thought this coffee maker was broken when I tried to turn it on. As it turns out, the button has a very odd 'feel' to it. It feels almost like a hole-puncher. You have to push on the button until you get a click sound. I LOVE THIS COFFEMAKER!! I call it my 'Personal Mr. Coffee Machine' Finally, Drip Coffee in Single Serve. It WORKS! Push the BUTTON!
