How about a comparison?

The weight (300lb,640gsm), style (block) and composistion(100% cotton) the price I assumed this paper would be nothing more than scrap worthy. I'm glad I bought a few blocks because I under estimated it. It's impressive. I would compare the surface to Saunders Waterford (great for landscapes). The lift would be somewhere between Waterford and Fabriano Artistico. The lift isn't as drastic as Fabriano and isn't as color-set as Waterford or Arches. For the record, this paper IS NOT like Fluid 100. As for masking fluid - I've had iffy experiences. The paper didn't rip like the 300lb cotton Hahnemuhle watercolour paper (which quickly turns to garbage when tape or masking fluid are involved) and I went hard on it when trying to remove masking fluid.. which was the problem.. I couldn't get the dried fluid removed in a few areas. ONLY a few areas so it might have been an issue with how I applied it. Short and sweet - this paper is awesome. You get what you pay for - good paper for a good price in an arena where price can be a huge barrier.

Solid Value 100% Paper

NY Central Watercolor Paper is a really good value! The paper is 100% cotton, and a good price for that premium paper. These blocks have been great for me - you can just start painting; they won't buckle or bend with the rest of the block weighing them down.

Block holds together better than many other brands

I have been trying different watercolor blocks ever since Arches blocks started falling apart as I used them. They seem to have changed the method of gluing the papers together and they no longer stay together for the duration of use. I have had several NY Central blocks of varying sizes and they have kept their integrity down to the last page.
