Looks good but not built to last

When I bought my car, the person I bought it from had removed the original gauges and installed an entire set of these arctic white Autometer gauges. The odometer registered 70K miles the day I bought it. After about 3 years, at 78K miles, the speedometer began acting up, with the needle flailing back and forth as I drove. After a day or two, the needle broke off. It didn't fall off, it broke off right above where it connects to the pivot. As there was no way to get inside the speedometer to repair the needle or find out what went wrong, I had to buy a new speedometer. So I bought one to match the set. I had no problems for three years, But today, as I was driving, the speedometer failed again. This time the needle doesn't move, and I hear a clicking noise as if the gears are not quite engaging. The odometer reads 6,431.7 and it's dead for all intents and purposes. Given what you charge for your equipment, I would expect a speedometer to last more than 3 years. And, replacing the speedometer in my 1977 vehicle is a challenge. The last time the housing crumbled due to age and I had to rebuild it with epoxy. I was hoping to not have to do this again for a long time, if ever.

spedometer did not last over 5000 miles

I loved the set of guages I installed in my 1954 chevy that I restored. problem with speedometer after 5000 miles . the pointer started bouncing up and down, finally went to zero and never moved again. The odometer still works fine. How will you help?
