Prelude Implicit - Kansas is back!

Ok - no mixed signals here. I have 3 degrees in music and have played professionally around the world for 30 years. Prelude Implicit is the best album Kansas has put out since Point of Know Return. AS big a fan I was of Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh, this project is refreshing, modern and old school at the same time. There is not one cut on the album that doesn't belong, all are great. Ronnie Platt is fantastic, a liquid voice with a huge range. Rich Williams and Zach play as well together as Rich and Kerry. The vocals are clean, tight and in tune - almost Queen in quality of sound. The addition of David Manion on keyboards gives Kansas the depth and range of sound they had 40 years ago. Ragsdale adds great back up vocals, outstanding violin and is also a great talent on guitar. Finally, founding member and original drummer Phil Ehart reminds the listener of why he is one of the most influential rock drummers of the past 50 years. There is everything to love about this album, both for the Wreathead Kansas baby booker and the new fans. It's too bad radio as we know it is now essentially no longer the tool for bands it was even 30 years ago. The single, With This Heart, should be on the air in every major market. Frankly, this record should be nominated for a Grammy, that's how good it is.

new KANSAS

It's been 16 years and several personnel changes, but worth the wait to me. The album takes you through various styles and sounds with a hint of their earlier prog sound. This may not be the KANSAS you are used to but worth buying if you are a fan.
