Manual de Doenças Autoimunes - Breve Discussão para o Médico Não Especialista (Handbook of Autoimmune Diseases - A Brief Discussion for the Non-Specialist Physician) is a book that resulted from the academic activities developed by the Liga Acadêmica da Autoimunidade (LAAI - Academic Autoimmunity League) of the Ponta Grossa State University Medical School. The LAAI was set up in 2011 by Professor Fabiana Postiglione Mansani and a group of academics as a project to provide a complementary study to the medical curriculum, covering the main autoimmune diseases, diagnoses and treatments. During the 7 years of its existence, it was observed that the training of general practitioners leaves a gap in the diagnosis of the main immunological diseases. The aim of this handbook is therefore to provide a quick reference on the main autoimmune diseases for general practitioners working in primary healthcare units, as well as for medical and pharmacy students.
