Sizing or structure issue?

I have been looking for simple heeled black sandals like these and have really loved my other Spring Step purchases, unfortunately, I tried to wear these only once and had to take them off even before I got to work because my foot slides around in them and over the front edge of the sandal. They seemed to be the right fit when I first put them on and are my usual size for the brand, but I just couldn't keep them on my feet and then the velcro at the ankle would open up.
