McCormick Gourmet Organic Ground Nutmeg, 1.81 oz Bottle

Disclosure: I received this product for free from McCormick Gourmet™ in exchange for my honest review. This nutmeg arrived just in time: I was going to cook a chicken liver pâté, but discovered I had run out of my own ground nutmeg. Without nutmeg, there is no reason to even start making a pâté. And here we go: a free McCormick Gourmet sample right here. Lucky me. First of all, I opened the lid and smelled it. The aroma was bright, and definitely way brighter than my previous nutmeg from the store. But I have to admit, my old one may have lost its fragrance over time. OK, I put it in the pâté and let it cook. What next? While I was racking my brain trying to devise what else to do, I LITERALLY smelled pumpkin and nutmeg. Let it be! Pumpkin pie with nutmeg! Typically, I don't add nutmeg to my pumpkin pie, just cinnamon. But this very vibrant and chasing scent of pumpkin and nutmeg in my head forced me to make a detour from my regular recipe. Why not? A generous amount (one tbsp) of nutmeg went into the bowl, and it was ready for the oven. Good. What else? The pâté and pie were ready, but I wanted to try this nutmeg with something else. But what? Irish coffee, of course! And there I decided to give the McCormick Gourmet ground nutmeg a real test. I found a whole nutmeg in my supply. What do we have? Two glasses of Irish coffee (unfortunately, while I was busy with the pie and pâté, the cream fell—such a shame). The right one has McCormick Gourmet ground nutmeg on top, and the left one has freshly ground whole nutmeg. Yes, the smell of the freshly ground nutmeg is a little bit stronger, but the taste is harsher, too. Summary: This is a great product. It works perfectly as a component of a dish and as a garnish. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! I will buy this again and recommend it to anyone who wants a reliable staple that performs across sweet and savory dishes. Upon opening, I could tell right away that this is great quality Nutmeg! It was very fragrant in the best way! I sprinkle Nutmeg on my coffee every morning so I appreciate the quality! This is flavorful and fragrant. I am finding I don't sprinkle nearly the same amount of this as I normally would with the lower quality nutmeg i was previously using.
